Career Presentation Jocelyn Tran English 8H, P.1 Whitehurst May 2013

Career Choice n When I get older, I want to be an ultra-sound technician/medical sonographer. n An ultra-sound technician uses high frequency waves and sonography to generate 3 or 4 dimensional images of soft-tissue organs inside the human body. n They usually work with pregnant women and patients that have internal/organ problems.

Salary n On average, ultra-sound technicians make approx. $84,000 a year, depending on job performance, experience, and level of education. n Monthly (w/o taxes): approx. $7,000 n Yearly (w/o taxes): approx. $84,000 n Monthly (-20% taxes): approx. $5,600 n Yearly (-20% taxes): approx. $67,200

Education n Must learn about science and computer technology in high school. n Need to get an associate’s degree. (Bachelor’s degree is recommended.) n Must register for American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) n Need to understand how to use sonography equipment. n Have study about biology, anatomy, physics, radiology, and medical terminology. n My dream is to graduate from UCSD with a major in “Diagnostic Medical Sonography”.

Groceries n I went shopping with my mom at Stater Brothers and other supermarkets. I realized that the total amount of money needed for meals, junk food/snacks, and various types of food added up to about $170 per month. n Average: $2,040 yearly for groceries.

Vehicle n2n2013 Honda Civic Hybrid nCnCost: $21,660 nDnDown payment:$5,000 n$n$361 per month n$n$4,332 per year n6n60 month term nInInterest rate: 0.9%
