Definition of Puberty The time of life when sex glands become functional. Our minds begin to change and the way we feel about others.

Female changes Muscles get bigger and stronger Breasts start to develop. Menstruation (periods) starts. You may get some whitish jelly from your vagina before or in between periods.. There is weight gain, particularly on the hips. Bodies become curvier and hip bones widens.

Male Changes. You get erections sometimes because you're nervous or excited You may have 'nocturnal emissions' or wet dreams while you are sleeping. The 'wet' stuff is semen and you haven't wet the bed! It is also a normal part of growing up. (See our topic Sexual reproduction for more information.)Sexual reproduction Boys gain weight. Shoulders get wider. Muscles start to get bigger and stronger.
