UCLH 10:10 Webinar 20 th April Summary of Achievements to Date 2.Employee Engagement Initiatives 3.Changing Culture

Summary of Achievements to Date This year to date we have saved 1,358tCO2e We reduced carbon emissions by 15% in 2009/10 We produced a Carbon and Sustainable Development Management Plan We have applied for accreditation to the Carbon Trust Standard and have demonstrated a 10% reduction in carbon emissions over the 3 year qualifying period We are members of the Camden Climate Change Alliance and have already met and exceeded the 10% carbon reduction commitment requirement We will reduce waste to landfill in by 40% this year

Employee Engagement Initiatives High profile energy awareness campaign featuring ‘Mr Switch it’. We have 60 voluntary carbon champions who have been trained in energy management and undertake walkabouts auditing energy efficiency and reporting back findings We have introduced a sustainability newsletter for staff and interested parties to help further in embedding sustainability within the organisation

Changing Culture We have substantially invested this year in smart metering installing 170 smart meters within one of our hospitals and we also are rolling out real time displays so that staff, patients and visitors can see how we use energy We are implementing a ‘Night Watchmen’ project enabling computers switched on at night to be automatically powered down. Staff awareness and engagement has been raised alongside the campaign providing information to staff on how much energy is consumed when computers and appliances are left on
