Presentation transcript:

As the traffic accidents and risks to our safety are becoming more and more frequent, especially in school surroundings, we, as students and as a school, are concerned about the community’s safety and well- being and about the future we are driving ourselves to, decided to act. Observing the traffic and some unpleasant experiences our friends went through, we realized the whole scenario begins at the drivers´ irresponsability - they don´t follow the laws and don´t obey to basic community rules, leaving a terrible role model for the next generations, that will end up in the same issues.

The solution is to educate the young people, transforming them into defenders of the changes that need to happen – they would become our traffic officers, leading us to better roads to the future.

Through lectures of minutes given by ourselves with the aid of some teachers, we taught children around 6 and 7 years old in our own school. We tried to raise in them a conception about the traffic and its rules. We also tried to make them conscious about the need of effective effort to change the situation.

After the lecture, each child received a small “Traffic Tickets” sheet, so they would pay attention to their parents´ behaviour and “fine” their parents whenever they considered proper. The fines were planned so they would make the children closer to their parents. The punishments involved hugs and bedtime stories.
