What is Tapestry? Tapestry is an on-line learning journal system. It allows us to create an individual Learning Journey for every child both in Nursery and Reception.

How do we use it? In Early Years we are constantly observing and assessing the children We take photographs and videos as evidence of the children’s experiences and achievements We can assess and monitor your child's progress and highlight any areas for development

Beyond Tapestry Online We will be regularly printing off the observations and keeping them in a presentation folder. We will still be adding samples of your child’s work. We will still be adding star moments.

The Advantages of Tapestry Tapestry tools allow us to monitor the coverage of all areas of the Curriculum Tapestry allows us to keep video evidence of the children Tapestry has the facility to parents whenever a new observation is added to their child’s Learning Journey

The Advantages of Tapestry Parents/Carers have access 24/7 to their child’s Learning Journey Parent/Carers can add their own observations to share progress and milestones achieved at home You can easily and safely share you’re child’s learning journal with family members.

The Advantages of Tapestry It is secure: “The security of your data is a huge priority for us. As such we take a number of precautions to make sure our servers are safe from both physical and cyber based attacks. Some examples of this are; the positioning of our servers in a high security data centre within the UK, as well as regular backups to a separate but equally secure location; separate databases for each Tapestry account; hack resistant coding; and encoded file names for uploaded media. We have a full security document available to our members, but do not have a downloadable copy online.”

Parent/Carer Contribution We welcome you to comment on your child’s Learning Journal You could add your own observations of your child when you notice them doing things at home This does come with the responsibility of using the system securely

Safe Usage No information from Tapestry can be shared with other people without the explicit consent of the parents or carers of those children who may be included. Photographs or videos from Tapestry cannot be posted on a social networking site or displayed in a public place. Misuse of Tapestry or adding inappropriate comments will result in your parent account being withdrawn immediately.

Parent/Carer Account We have set up accounts for all parents/carers who have given us up-to-date addresses The accounts are password protected - this password must be changed the first time you log in to the account We will issue your username and password on receipt of the completed Tapestry image consent form during this evening
