NAIS-300 System Description & Customer Benefits Class-B Black Box AIS Transponder; “See And Be Seen” The NAIS-300 is a completely autonomous unit. It’s most basic function allow the owners vessel to be Seen by other AIS enabled vessels within VHF range; additionally, when connected to an AIS enabled chartplotter, the NAIS-300 present all received data on the display head, allowing the owner visibility of all surrounding vessels.

NAIS-300 Key Value Propositions NAVICO is currently the only Major Brand to offer Transmit and Receive (Class-B AIS) solutions both as an integrated standalone system w/display (AI50) and as a black box add on product to any AIS compatible multi function display product (NAIS-300). This will enable NAVICO to be one of the largest OEM suppliers with a strong hold on the Class B AIS leisure market. Key Competitive Advantage The NAIS-300 & AI50 both make good on the promise of “See & Be Seen” because they include both a Receiver and a Transmitter function for AIS vessel data. (The AIS Receive Function = “See”) & (The AIS Transmit Function = “Bee Seen”) This is a HUGE competitive advantage over Raymarine’s AIS250 & Furuno’s FA30, which both include only a receive function that enable them to “See” but have no transmit function to cover the “Bee Seen” aspect. NAIS-300 Lifecycle Management Future Software Updates Should a software update become required, the NAIS-300 must be returned to an authorized NAVICO dealer to have the software installed. There are two PCBs within the product both of which require software. Tools required to perform software update: Laptop computer with USB & Serial ports Latest version of the NAIS-300 CD-ROM (ProAIS Configuration Software) USB to Can Converter + SimNet Cable RS232 Cable (Included with NAIS-300) a. The NAIS-300 transceiver PCB software update is performed by downloading the latest version of the ProAIS software code from the support section of the NAVICO website and connecting the serial port on your laptop to the RS232 connection on the NAIS-300, using the RS232 cable that was supplied with the NAIS-300 system. b. The NAIS-300 control PCB is programmed by downloading the latest code from the support section of the NAVICO website and connecting a USB to CAN converter between the USB port on the laptop computer and the SimNet port on the NAIS-300.
