What sort of things could you do if you were Master of the Universe ?

Constantine What do you think happened to Christians when Constantine, became the first Christian Roman Emperor ?

How did Constantine become a Christian ? How did he become an Emperor? Watch the video and be ready to explain.

1.Copy out the sentence: “Emperor Constantine made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire.” 2.Explain how Constantine became a Christian, and a Roman Emperor. (saw/Chi-Rho sign in sky/ which means …/believed/ shields/ defeated/Emperor Maxentius/ Battle Milvian Bridge/ became Emperor/ Christians not persecuted) 3.Draw Constantine seeing the XP sign in the sky. Speech bubble from the sky the words he heard “In this sign, you will conquer”. 4.XP are Greek letters that stand for Christus Rex – Christ is King. Draw and label this on your picture.. ** “it matters less what Constantine actually saw in the sky, than how he interpreted it”. Explain what this quote is suggesting. Constantine 312 AD The first Christian Roman Emperor… CHRISTUS REX

The Battle of Milvian Bridge Draw a plan of the battle, showing what Maxentius plan was, and how it went wrong for him. – draw a map of the area (Rome on a hill on one side of the river, + Maxentius’ army, Constantine’s much smaller army on a hill on the other side) – Use arrows to show how Maxentius planned to lure Constantine’s army across the bridge – Show how in fact it was Maxentius’ army that was still on the bridge when the bridge collapsed
