PUNCTUATION REVIEW October 7, 2009

Directions Each person in our class will receive a card. There will be a sentence written on each card that is grammatically incorrect because of improper use of: colons, ellispes, semicolons, commas, apostrophes or the common mistakes in our writing.

Directions Read your card, and FIRST, try to determine what needs to be corrected before looking at your Daily Edit notes. If you aren’t sure, please use your Daily Edit notes to help you. If you look at your notes, and still aren’t sure, please raise your hand and ask Ms. Freese

Directions After everyone has had a chance to correct their sentences, I will post a sentence on the screen. If it matches the sentences that you corrected, please raise your hand and you will share out how you corrected the sentence with the rest of the class.

The sentences Sam has two favorite bands Vampire Weekend and Lincoln Park She has traveled to New York, New York San Diego, California and Miami, Florida. kobe bryant is a famous basketball player on the lakers.

The sentences I cant believe the magazine sale is almost over. Ms. Freese went to the store and bought several items a coat, a pair of shoes and a sweater. He doesn’t like fish ice cream and apples.

The sentences The bright pretty shirt was on sale. I had to wait in line, to ride the bus. Ryan Adam’s is a singer. He loves playing the guitar: he’s in a band. I want to travel to Tokyo, Japan, Rome, Italy, and Madrid, Spain.

The sentences Their unhappy about missing school on Friday. He reads for fun and he also reads for school. She drinks soda water and juice. Its not her fault that she missed the bus. My brother and sisters brought there old clothes to the house.

The sentences My favorite chapter is called look before you leap. Ms. Freese likes: pizza, tofu and Diet Coke. Vampire books are a popular genre, during the summer. I’m not sure..I think that store is down the street.

The sentences Rob Thomas car is bright red and has four doors. The little prince is one of Sam’s favorite books. Mr. Smith likes to watch movies; he ran fast. Paulas favorite flower was a rose. Sally loves to swim her favorite stroke is freestyle.

The sentences The childrens’ room was a mess. We read a funny smart book about a boy who had never tasted pizza. During the school year I have a lot of homework. He hated running but he liked being on the team. She was late however she had a pass.
