Proposed Dialog Between Principal and Interviewing Students Hello students…. Since you are here in my office, I guess you have accepted my challenge to make over the library here at Grant. Here’s what I’d like you to do as a group. First: Document what the room looks like now. Take pictures with a camera of the parts of the library you’d like to change. I think showing them in a power point might be good, then you could describe the changes you want to make in the text. You could even include a floor plan. You might want to look for any safety problems too. Second: Would you research prices of any items you want to add to the room? You might want to include the cost of paint, if you’re interested in painting. Try to keep the cost down….you might want to research on the internet too. In fact, if you can, get most of your supplies at McMRF - we are members. Next: After you’ve collected all this information and planned a way to present it, could you write a letter to Mr. Coffee. Let him know what you’ve learned and ask for permission to make these changes to the library. You might want to tell him you are doing this as an art project for Mrs. Erbaugh’s class that she is taking at the University of Dayton. Let him know that you are also doing a computer simulation of the changes and you will be happy to present your plan to him. Let me know if there’s anything I can help you with on this project. Good luck and keep me posted of your progress. Specific instructions for the students during their interview.

Designers Measurers Photographers Recorders Researchers Click on icons for more info!

Measurers Will measure the dimensions of the library and key items in the room. Will work with the recorders to assist with the floor plan. Trading Spaces software Return to

Recorders Return to Will assist measurers in recording room dimensions and researchers in listing room inventory. Will assist photographers in the presentation to request permission for actual transformation of the library.

Designers Will take information from measurers and recorders to create a “before” floor plan. Trading Spaces software Will take information from researchers to add new elements to the floor plan. Return to

Researchers Return to Will research the cost of any items added to the floor plan using the internet, catalogs or newspaper ads.

Photographers Return to Will document the condition of the library through digital photographs. Will consolidate photos into a persuasive power point presentation with the assistance of other classmates.

Assessment The first four areas of the rubric will be assessed by Mrs. Erbaugh. The last three areas will be part of the group debriefing.
