INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES What is a resource? Types of resources

Instructional resources Resource: Collins Dictionary; ‘thing resorted to for support, ingenuity, means of achieving something’. Anything we use for the purpose of achieving our objectives or goals In our environment anything can be a resource if it used to accomplish our intentions

Meaning of Instructional resource J. Walton (1975:1) defines resource as ‘everything that is planned to contribute to the education enterprise’ Instructional resource: Anything that can support and contribute in the instructional process. A chalkboard in class is a resource because you use it for writing notes, draw diagrams and illustrations. A student if used to support learning becomes an instructional resource

Meaning of Instructional resource Resources can be categorized in to four main groups: Physical resources: buildings, furniture, playing ground, chalkboard Material resources: flipchart, overhead projector, books, computers, camera, video recorders, models, televisions, photographs, newspapers, CDs, syllabus Human resources: teachers, pupils, support staff Financial resource: money

How can you categorize instructional resources?

All the resources are used in supporting Education and the school must acquire these kinds of resources for teaching and learning to take place.
