4 WAYS TECHNOLOGY CAN MAKE YOUR MUSIC LESSONS SING WRITTEN BY: DAVID RATHS PRESENTED BY: COREENA MUCCI

What is the Benefit of Technology in Music Education? Rather than music just being performance based art, technology in music education allows music to be a creative art.

FOUR MAIN TOPICS 1.Using Tablets Instead of Paper Music 2.Helping Kids Compose 3.Rehearsing Via Social Media 4.Reworking Published Arrangements

USING TABLETS IN SCHOOL Benefits  Never loose music  Help students create their own compositions  Audio recordings can be sent to the students

APPS FOR THE TABLET Notion NotateMe Casper

NOTION An app where students can make their own tracks and compose their own songs.

NotateMe Allows the Instructor to write musical notation and convert it to digital notation. Allows you to take a picture of the score and convert it to digital music. Teachers can scan music without using expensive scanners.

CASPER A program where the teacher can lock the students into a specific app.

HELPING KIDS COMPOSE Technology allows younger students to compose their own music through an app called NoteFlight. Virtual instruments help in performing. Performing assessments through a program called iDoceo, which captures student performance.

NOTEFLIGHT A tool that young students can use to create melodic melodies, which they can then later play on their recorders

iDeoceo Easy way to assess performance exams.

REHEARSING VIA SOCIAL MEDIA The use of Edmodo social media with students and parents Other technology apps and programs listed are: TonalEnergyTuner and SmartMusic.

EDMODO A social media app that can be used with students that will give them results, assignments and even midi files as well.

REWORKING PUBLISHED ARRANGEMENTS Students write their own compositions using already arranged pieces of music. They play each other’s compositions to help them become better writers and musicians. Programs used: GarageBand and Soundation
