Progress: achievements so far To 31 December 2011 nationally: Over 3200 trainees completed training 985,497 had entered treatment 598,052 had completed treatment 213,266 had reached recovery 39,948 had moved off of sick pay and benefits Current Recovery Rate – 44.4%

New Training Opportunities Two types of worker to reflect stepped care PWP (Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner) AfC Band 4 trainee, Band 5 qualified HIT (High Intensity Therapist) Band 6 trainee Band 7 qualified Earn and Learn contracts - one year salary and training fees National Cirriculum for both courses Accredited HEI course providers 22 HIT, 19 PWP.

PWP Training Opportunities Attractive to: health trainers; support workers; psychology assistants; support, time, recovery workers Provides new direction for professional qualified staff: nurses; occupational therapists Postgraduate and non-graduate entry Full course - 25 days at HEI, 20 days directed learning in work Top -up training 15 at HEI, 10 days directed learning

PWP Role High Volume - helping over 250 patients with mild to moderate depression and anxiety per year Focus on helping patients assist themselves, case management and collaborative care Competent to perform: behavioural activation; exposure therapy; cognitive re-structuring; medication support; problem solving; panic management and sleep hygiene Personal Accreditation through BABCP

PWP Career Progression Senior PWP - many services have senior PWP at band 6 allowing specialism and supervisory and management roll High Intensity Therapy - recommend two years post PWP qualification prior to application Clinical psychology

HIT Training Opportunities Attractive to: CBT therapists, clinical psychologists, counsellors, nurses, occupational therapists, experienced graduate mental health workers or psychotherapists One year post graduate diploma Two days per week at HEI three days per week undertaking supervised practice Meets minimum training standards of BABCP

HIT Role Able to provide a full range of CBT interventions to people with moderate to severe depression and all anxiety disorders Provide one to one face to face therapy Additional therapy modalities provided as CPD in form of 5 day course with 3 -6 months of supervised practice including Counselling for Depression; Couples Therapy for Depression; Brief Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy and Interpersonal Psychotherapy for depression

Talking Therapies: four-year plan Complete roll-out of IAPT services ensuring equitable access for all adults Initiate stand-along programme for children and young people Develop models of care for: –People with Long Term Physical Health Conditions –People with Medically Unexplained Symptoms –People with Severe Mental Illness

Completing the IAPT roll out Investment of £400m will mean that from : 3.2m people will access IAPT 1.3 m (50% of those treated) will move to recovery 75,000 of these people will get or retain a job, education, training or volunteering 100% geographical coverage, meet 15% prevalence & achieve 50% recovery rates Equality of access and outcome for all 2400 new therapists by March 2015
