Example Introduction: Essay Writing Example Introduction: In the story, “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” by Joyce Carol Oates, a naïve girl, Connie, meets a deceptive, older man, Arnold Friend. Connie is persuaded by Arnold Friend’s charm and good looks, which causes her to be deceived and fall into his trap. Connie pretends to be a more sophisticated and mature teenager by socializing with older teens and acting more provocative than she truly is. However, in reality Connie is naïve and gullible.
