Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. – Print all upper- and lowercase letters. – Use common, proper, and possessive nouns. – Use singular and plural nouns with matching verbs in basic sentences (e.g., He hops; We hop). – Use personal, possessive, and indefinite pronouns (e.g., I, me, my; they, them, their, anyone, everything). – Use verbs to convey a sense of past, present, and future (e.g., Yesterday I walked home; Today I walk home; Tomorrow I will walk home). – Use frequently occurring adjectives. – Use frequently occurring conjunctions (e.g., and, but, or, so, because). – Use determiners (e.g., articles, demonstratives). – Use frequently occurring prepositions (e.g., during, beyond, toward). – Produce and expand complete simple and compound declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory sentences in response to prompts. L.1.2. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing. – Capitalize dates and names of people. – Use end punctuation for sentences. – Use commas in dates and to separate single words in a series. – Use conventional spelling for words with common spelling patterns and for frequently occurring irregular words. – Spell untaught words phonetically, drawing on phonemic awareness and spelling conventions.

Assignment Open the Grammer Jammer app and choose one of the seven topics on the introductory screen Listen to the entire song, making sure to write the definition of the part of speech or topic you chose. Use Songify to compose your own song on your topic. Your song must include a definition of the topic and three examples.

Demonstrate understanding of words by relating them to their opposites (antonyms) and to words with similar but not identical meanings (synonyms).

Assignment Open the Idioms app, read the scrolling cartoon explaining idioms. Click on start and read the background of at least three of the idioms described. Choose any one of the idioms on the site or choose one of your own. Open Puppet Pals, and create a play in which the idiom you chose is used.

Assignment Open the Aesop’s fable Wheel app, spin it and read the fable it selects. Be sure to write down the moral of your fable. Click on Story Kit app, you are to create unique story of your own which has the same central message or moral as the fable you read. You are to record your story in Story Kit and it should include at least three graphics.

Assignment Open the Math Circus app and chose the “Multiply with 5” section. Complete all five items in this section. Open the Rocket Math app, and complete the multiplication easy section. Open the Whiteboard app, use the connect feature to connect with another student. Create a multiplication problem which shows one of the following, Zero, Identity, or Commutative property and have your learning partner identify it. Create a multiplication problem and have your learning partner create a visual model of the problem along with the solution.
