Physical Science Lesson Plans April 10, 2012 OPENING: In your Interactive Notebook: What do you think light is? Is light made of matter? Can light travel through space? Explain your answer. EQ: How would you describe light as an electromagnet wave? GPS:S8P4 Student will explore the wave nature of sound and electromagnetic radiation. a. Identify the characteristics of electromagnetic and mechanical waves. a. Identify the characteristics of electromagnetic and mechanical waves. d. describe how behavior of waves is affected by medium( such as air, water, solids) Student will recognize characteristics of gravity, electricity, and magnetism as major kinds of forces acting in nature. WORK SESSION: Review “Properties and Interaction of Waves” What is light? The Electromagnetic Spectrum; Interactions of Light; Waves Light and Color-Notes, Demo, and Discussion CRCT Review- Practice from the Coach Book. CLOSING: In your Interactive Notebook answer the following question: Why is it important that Electromagnetic Waves can travel through empty space? HOMEWORK: Complete and submit all missing work.

Georgia Studies Lesson Plans April 11, 2012 OPENING: Imagine a time when there were no cell phones, television, MP3 or iPods, computers, internet, cable TV, LCD Projectors… How would class be for you and what would your life be like outside of the school without your modern advancements? EQ: What events affected Georgians after World War II? How was life in the U.S. different after WWII? Physical Science Lesson Plans April 12, 2012 OPENING: In your Interactive Notebook: If you have ever heard a large fireworks display, you probably felt the sound of the explosions. What are some of the other times that you can think of that you might have felt sound? Describe them. EQ: How do vibrations cause sounds? GPS:S8P4 Student will explore the wave nature of sound and electromagnetic radiation. d. describe how behavior of waves is affected by medium( such as air, water, solids) e. Relate the properties of sound to everyday experiences. WORK SESSION: What is Sound? Properties of Sound; Interaction of Sound Waves; Sound Quality -Notes, Demo, Science Video and Discussion CRCT Review: Practice from the Coach Book. CLOSING: Use the following terms to create a concept map: sound waves, pitch, loudness, decibels, frequency, amplitude, oscilloscope, hertz and interference. HOMEWORK: Complete and submit all missing work.

Georgia Studies Lesson Plans April 13, 2012 OPENING: Introduction: Imagine that everyone in the class wearing orange shirts or blouses was separated from the rest of the class; denied materials and supplies; refused permission to take breaks, go to the water fountain, have breakfast or lunch, ride the school buses, attend assemblies or participate in school activities/programs. How would you feel? What would you do to change that? Would that be considered to be fair? EQ: What advances were made in civil rights during the postwar period?
