SusSol at Stedelijk College Eindhoven presentation – Rome October 2011

Overview presentation  Activities year 1  Students involved  Activities and Subjects involved  Final products  Mobilities  Evaluation  Dissemination  Plans for year 2

Activities year 1  Meeting Eindhoven (October)  Development SusSol activity at school (October – November)  Trip to London / Stevenage (December)  Start early (mini) science fair to meet SusSol timetable (December – February)  Final results of students work presented to other classes and teachers at the science fair March (footage available) (March)  The winning teams take part at the meeting Ceuta (April)  The winning team produce newspaper to inform students and teachers (May)  Evaluation SusSol teachers of Stedelijk College Eindhoven and ISSE (June)

Students involved  27 students  with the age of 14 – 15 years  took part at the special (mini) Science Fair  Via our school site other student, teachers and parents were informed.

Activities and Subjects involved  The results of the SusSol (mini) Science Fair were also used for the 3TTO Science Fair for all bilingual 3 rd classes, which took place in April.  Students could choose their own individual topics linked to one of the following subjects: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Geography and Mathematics.  The results of the projects were presented in the form of a scientific report and a Science Fair presentation (display, ppt and/or demonstrations)

Final products  The SusSol (mini) Science Fair reports and presentations.  Informational website / page at  Newspaper made by students on the Ceuta trip

Mobilities  (11 teachers and 107 students travelled to England to visit London and Marriots school in Stevenage. Unfortunately the visit to the school site was cancelled due to extreme bad weather circumstances (December))  4 teachers and 5 students travelled to Ceuta (April)

Evaluation  We evaluate the SusSol (mini) Science Fair addressing the difficulties to arrange a separate (extra) science fair for one class. Nevertheless this was a nice chance to implement the SusSol project and prepare for year 2.  We also evaluate the Ceuta trip addressing opportunities to improve travel/hotel arrangement for the participants and student guidance in general. We were very happy with the well-organised program in Ceuta. We want to compliment our Spanish hosts.

Dissemination  SusSol (mini) Science information booklet  SusSol (mini) Science Fair projects  School website  Newspaper

Plans for year 2  This year we will involve all 3 rd years students by planning the 3TTO Science Fair earlier in our year program and because of that all students will choose a SusSol topic. The students with the best results will join our meeting in Poland.  This big science fair will be held in the evening time so more teachers and parents are able to see the results of the project. To follow up the nice idea to produce a sign post to all the participating schools in Europe, student will make a signpost to place centrally in the auditorium where the Science Fair will be held. Again visiting Marriots School will be part of the 3TTO trip to London. Our students really look forward to meet the students of Marriots School.
