By Dr. Ranjan Samanta, Tuhin Subhra Ghosh, Soumen Mondal A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF E-CONTENT AMONG EPG-pathshala, eGyanKosh AND NPTEL

INTRODUCTION Consider three e-content databases -- EPG-pathshala, eGyanKosh and NPTEL

EPG-pathshala MHRD assigned work to UGC for development of E-content in 77 subjects at PG levels High quality, curriculum based, interactive content in different subjects across all disciplines of social sciences, linguistics and languages E-content available in open access through Learning Management Software (LMS) set-up at the INFLIBNET as well as Sakshat portal

EPG-pathshala Make these e-content available in open access through SCORM-compliant digital repository set- up at the INFLIBNET Centre Impart training to subject experts in the process of e-content creation Develop e-content drawing expertise from subject experts in college, university and R& D laboratories Promote usage of e-content amongst students and peer

eGyanKosh E-GyanKosh =Electronic Gyan ( knowledge) and Kosh A National Digital Library Implemented and mentained by IGNOU

eGyanKosh Study materials, audio video programmes and archives of radio & television-based live interactive sessions Access open to all through one time registration process Approximate 125,000 active registered users of the repository

NPTEL Open Course Ware Initiative by 7 IITs and IISc, Bangalore Funded by MHRD, Govt. of India Six major engineering disciplines covered and 260 courses available in phase-I

NPTEL Twenty-three disciplines covered and 990 courses available in phase-II Core curriculum courses common to all engineering programmes such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, management, electronics and languages included
