Introduction You are employed by a large corporation located in Minneapolis, MN. This corporation has several branches in the Midwest section of the United States. Your supervisor has just been given the assignment of organizing a conference for all the branches. Your assignment is to do some research for the presentation that will be shown to the officers of this corporation. Based on your research, the officers will then select a conference site for this year’s conference. IntroductionTaskProcessEvaluationConclusion

The Task From your research, you will prepare charts listing the number of rooms in hotels being considered to host our conference. Your supervisor would also like a chart to show the distance of the various cities from Minneapolis. After comparing the hotels, you will need to decide which hotel to use and prepare a 3 column brochure highlighting the hotel to submit to the officers. When you are finished, you will submit the room chart, mileage chart, data that you have complied, and your brochure. (Remember to use different charts, ones that will best show the differences in the data. You will use Excel to compile your data and produce that charts. You will use Word to create your brochure. You will use the Web to do your research IntroductionTaskProcessEvaluationConclusion

The Process The President of our corporation has decided that he would like to select from the following cities of Chicago, St. Louis, Madison, and Omaha Hotels being considered are: Hilton, Marriott, Radisson, Sheraton Possible websites to use could include: In each city you will determine how many rooms the hotel has. Using the provided Worksheet (print 2 copies), an Excel chart should be made showing the number of rooms each hotel has in each city. Another determining factor will be the distance from our main office to the city of choice. Use (for Mac’s) or (for PC’s) to check the distance from the hotel to Minneapolis. Use the travel log for your raw data. You should then create another Excel chart with this data. If there is more than one hotel in one city, pick one and compile your data from that one.Worksheetwww.mapquest.comhttp://maps.google.com travel log After comparing the possible conference locations you should create a 3 column Word document that highlights your choice. This will be shown to the officers of the corporation so you need to sell the hotel you chose. Included in the brochure should be room information, amenities and area attractions as well as a map to locate the hotel. Your brochure should include graphics, either computer generated or pictures of the possible conference site. NOTE: Some hotels do not list the number of rooms here is that information: Madison Hilton has 240 rooms, Madison Sheraton has 237 rooms and St. Louis Radisson has 140 rooms ALSO ONE OF THE HOTELS DOESN’T EXIST IN ONE OF THE CITIES—You figure out which one. Many supervisors have employees help with research that they do not have time to do. By using the World Wide Web you will do many different searches for an employer. You have learned how to search for requested information and then take that information and put it into chart form. You should have a better understanding of how different charts emphasize different information. IntroductionTaskProcessEvaluationConclusion
