ULTRA TRACES ANALYSES AQUITAINE Technological Centre for trace element analyses Hugues PAUCOT

UT2A : Technological Centre managed by ADERA Association Created in January 1999 thanks to Aquitaine region and FEDER funds Special Partnership with LCABIE / IPREM (UMR 5254) Fields of expertise and markets –Trace element analyses –Speciation –Bio-molecule determination –Chemical process characterisation –Training and consulting Description

Why UT2A ? The technological trends in the sector of the analytical chemistry of trace elements (As, Cr, Hg, Se, S…) require a rapid adaptation of the operators and the methods –UT2A supports analytical laboratories, laboratories of control, and R&D departments in their initiative of development of their analytical potential UT2A Active partner for the applications in analytical chemistry –Applications of new concepts and new methodologies

UT2A positioning IPREM Know how in state- of-the-art analytical chemistry Support of highly specific instrumentation Analytical methods development Companies/ Laboratories Expressions of needs in specific analyses Access to technologies directly stemming from the research Initiative towards the innovation Analytical subcontracting Relation Research - Industry Know How diffusion Participation in the valuation of the research, and in the distribution of the know-how

UT2A: A technological centre 11 permanents staff (5 engineers, 2 assistants-engineers, 2 technicians, 2 administrative staff) More than 500 Analytical contracts per year 400 m² of laboratories equipped with : – 1 clean lab – 2 ICP-MS + hyphenation of GC and HPLC – 1 Ionic Chromatographic system – 1 Polarography system – Sample preparation (micro-waves, heating plates, crusher, steam, etc…)

Available analytical techniques in partnership with LCABIE / IPREM ICP-MS (10 available instruments) of whom 1 High Resolution and 1 multi-collector –GC, HPLC, CE coupling ICP-AES Mass Spectrometers (Triple Quad, Orbitrap…) Atomic Fluorescence Electrochemical techniques (Polarography) Laser Ablation systems (Femtosecond et nanosecond) Sampling systems (automatic samplers) Cryogenic sampling system (gas sampling) Both ressources infrastructures makes it unique in Europe
