OBJECTIVE OF THE TRIP Networking and sharing experience Acquaint MP’s with green initiatives, renewable energy options and programs in Germany Create better understanding of renewable energy policies, laws and possibilities for Namibia

STAKEHOLDERS CONSULTED Claudia von Fersen & Piet Kleffmann, KFW Bank -The role of the Bank in Development matters -Ownership and projects in Namibia Visit to carpark Rehbstock in Bonn -Carpark consist of 2 building of 6 and 2 floors -Roof entirely covered by solar panels – electricity generation -Both buildings are 100% powered by solar energy -Excess power generated sold to electricity distributors with agreement to sell to nearby houses and areas.

Stakeholders consulted - continued Feldheim, Germany’s renewable energy village -Village is 60 km from Berlin with 128 residents -On the surface its ordinary -Below Feldheim lone street runs network of electrical cables -Wind park with 47 turbines

Feldheim - continued -Newest and largest turbines to produce 9 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year -Village windfarm produces enough renewable energy that 99 % is sold on energy market -Unique - separate grids for district heating and power supply - heat & electricity produced locally fed to consumers
