Presentation transcript:

INTERNET SAFETY By Philip & Bryan

SOCIAL MEDIA It is very important to stay safe when on social media sites. Facebook and Snapchat are two of the main sites targeted by internet hackers. They often pretend to be someone else to get your personal details such as address and bank account details. It is very important to stay safe on these social media sites so you don’t get into any trouble. Social media sites are getting more and more dangerous every year because of these internet hackers.

INTERNET PRIVACY Privacy is one of the most important things while on social media. It is very important to have a strong password that only you know. You can prevent hackers from getting access to you accounts by adding upper case and lower case letters, numbers etc. It is also very important to change your privacy settings from public to private so people you don’t know cant look at your profile.

It is also important to be cautious when you check your s. It is known that people try to test their luck by sending s to people in an attempt to get bank account details. People could pretend to be a cousin of yours from a different country. They may pretend to be in financial trouble and that they need you to lend them some money by giving them your bank account details. They sound very believable so they could easily fool someone into giving their bank account details to them.

CYBER BULLYING Cyber bullying is a form of bullying done over the internet. Cyber bullies target vulnerable people and often anonymously bully them over social media sites. With social media sites such as Facebook it makes it possible to cyber bully someone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Amanda Todd was born in Canada. She met an anonymous person online who flattered her so much that she sent a topless photo to him. A year later that picture went viral and Amanda lost her reputation and she was beaten up by her classmates. She eventually took her own life because she couldn’t deal with the bullying she got anymore.

THIS VIDEO SHOWS HOW EASY IT IS TO ACCESS SOMEONES PRVATE INFORMATION THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA.
