Availability The Adapter for OLE DB is a free component Currently available as a download from the Scribe Community – Adapter for OLE DB download pageAdapter for OLE DB download page To be included with the core product install in Hammerhead
Overview An OLE DB provider uses Microsoft’s OLE DB technology to provide connectivity to a specific data source Scribe’s Adapter for OLE DB acts as a consumer by leveraging the provider to perform read and write operations against that data source
Usage For databases and applications without a Scribe adapter a native connection is recommended If no native connection is available then either and ODBC or OLE DB connection is required
OLE DB Benefits Provides connectivity to data sources previously inaccessible through Scribe –MySQL –SQLAnywhere –FoxPro Provides connectivity to varying implementations of ODBC
OLE DB Limitations Slower than ODBC connections Less functionality –Does not support some Scribe features Object relationship management Required fields
