Technical Responsibilities : green indicates a commitment: –institute will deliver MoUs facilitate connection: – Project Management (authority and responsibility) and institutions (funding and resources). The ‘C’  coordinating role in a WP –Each WP has only one coordinator.

ILC Project Management Project Managers are responsible for –Leading the world-wide technical development effort efficiently and effectively –Setting technical direction and executing the project toward realization of the ILC Regional Directors are responsible for –Promoting, funding and authorizing the international cooperative program.

Getting Started on the EDR: Re-organize ourselves toward the EDR –Project management-based structure, –Definition, scope and resources Examine RDR & plan EDR  a starting point –Multi-day technical (kick-off) meetings planned –Internally controlled process Design work and technical R&D –Technologies to be chosen and to be further established to reach EDR by 2010.

EDR Objectives - Main Linac Technology: Complete the critical R&D –as identified by the (R & D Board and) S0, S1, S2 task forces. Merge ‘design variants’ and establish the base-line design, –To consolidate resources on single engineering solution, and – to keep alternate solutions for future upgrade, Realize pre-industrialization –Demonstrate engineering for pre-mass-production Identify ways for the maximum benefit to be obtained from the XFEL project –Formally launched June 5, 2007

EDR Kick-Off Meetings EU: –DR (US)26.08 –e+ (US)18.09 –Cavities(AS)17.09 –CFS EU (US)2.09 US: –ML / RTML (AS)08.10 –BDS (EU)24.09 –Controls(EU)20.08 –CFS US(EU)23.08 Asia: –CM(EU)(long)10.09 –HLRF(US)01.10 –CFS Asia (US)04.10 Blue – Nick Green – Akira Black – Marc (secondary region) draft dates

Example Kick Off Meeting Purpose: –The purpose of the ‘EDR Kick Off Meeting’ is to present, justify, discuss and evaluate the EDR plan. Specific Charge (SRF): –The EDR Project Management Group will: –review the strategy and completeness of the design, industrialization and procurement plans which were assembled for the RDR. –evaluate EDR plans for further development value estimate –evaluate EDR plans for industrialization –examine proposed Work Packages and comment on how they support the EDR goals. Scientific staff to help plan agenda and attendees
