Presentation transcript:

An adjective is a word that describes a noun. Adjectives generally give qualities to the noun it is accompanying. E.g. That house is very old. NOUNADJECTIVE

We use the comparative form of an adjective when we want to compare two nouns (objects, people, situations, animals, etc). E.g. Mike is taller than his friend Joseph.

We use the superlative form of an adjective when we want to compare one noun with the other members of its group or category. E.g. Mike is the tallest in his class.

When comparing the spelling of the adjective is affected depending on its number of syllables. ADJECTIVECOMPARATIVE (Add –er) SUPERLATIVE (Add –est) OldOlderThe Oldest WarmWarmerThe Warmest TallTallerThe Tallest ONE-SYLLABLE ADJECTIVES
