One-syllable adjectives Form the comparative and superlative forms of a one-syllable adjective by adding –er for the comparative form and –est for the superlative. One-Syllable Adjective Comparative Form Superlative Form fast faster fastest cold colder coldest My motorbike is faster than your car. My motorbike is the fastest in this city. Kars is colder than Antalya. Kars is the coldest city in winter.

Her cat is bigger than my cat. If the one-syllable adjective ends with a single consonant with a vowel before it, double the consonant and add –er for the comparative form; and double the consonant and add –est for the superlative form. Her cat is the biggest of all the cats in the neighborhood. Emine is thinner than Selma. İrem is the thinnest student in the class. My sister is fatter than your sister. Nuriye is the fattest person in my family.

Two-syllable adjectives With most two-syllable or more adjectives, you form the comparative with more and the superlative with most. Two-Syllable Adjective Comparative Form Superlative Form famous more famous most famous intelligent more intelligent most intelligent .Barış Manço was more famous than Berkant Akgürgen. .Tarkan is the most famous singer in Turkey. .İbrahim is more intelligent than Selim. .Fikret is the most intelligent student in my class.

Selami is angrier than Sezai. Selami is the angriest man in my family. If the two-syllable adjectives ends with –y, change the y to i and add –er for the comparative form. For the superlative form change the y to i and add –est. Two-Syllable Adjective Ending with -y Comparative Form Superlative Form angry angrier angriest busy busier busiest Selami is angrier than Sezai. Selami is the angriest man in my family. Eyüp is busier than Erdal. Eyüp is the busiest person I have ever met.
