A reminder before beginning these exercises. In order to turn an i-adjective that is in the present affirmative(informal) into the present negative(informal) all you have to do is : 1. Drop the final ( i ) from the adjective 2. Replace with ( ku nai ) Present aff.  yoi (is good) Present neg.  yoku nai (is not good )

EXERCISE 1A Turn the following Present affirmative (inf)i- adjectives into present negative(inf.) Ex: oishii (is delicious)= oishiku nai (is not delicious)

1.yasui = (cheap) 2. chiisai (small)= 3. amai = (sweet) 4. nagai = (long) 5. kurai = (dark) 6. tanoshii = (fun) 7. akarui = (bright) 8. omoshiroi= (interesting)

Exercise 1C Write the opposite of what each sentence states by writing the ( ku nai) form of the i-adjective. Ex: Kono neko wa kawaii desu. (This cat is cute.) Becomes Kono neko wa kawaiku nai desu.(This cat is not cute.)

1. Sono shinbun wa furui desu  (That newspaper is old.) 2. Kono tesuto wa yasashii desu.  (This test is easy.) 3. Ano nihongo no jisho wa ii desu.  (That japanese dictionary is good.) 4. Sono tori wa utsukushii desu.  (That bird is beautiful.) 5. Kono kuruma wa takai desu.  (This car is expensive.)
