Mini Roundabouts Hillary Isebrands, PE FHWA Resource Center

2 Existing Mini Roundabout Design Guidance Typical ICD Range: 45 – 90 ft Small roundabouts used in low-speed urban environments often characterized by having mountable (or painted only) center islands and splitter islands. The central island should be domed using 5 to 6 percent cross slope, with a maximum height of 5 inches. Source: FHWA Guide, 2000

FHWA Field Testing, Marketing and Crash Test Analysis for Mini-roundabouts Research Project This research project aims to promote well‐designed mini‐roundabout deployments in the US, quantify potential safety benefits and produce marketing materials.
