IANA Numbering Services SLA Overview The Service Level Agreement (SLA) for IANA Numbering Services is an agreement for provision of IANA registry services for the global number resource registries (i.e. the top-level IPv4, IPv6, ASN registries) SLA principles were specified in the CRISP team proposal for IANA Stewardship Transition SLA agreement will be between the IANA Numbering Services Operator and the 5 RIRs ICANN (having done an excellent job to date) will be the IANA Numbering Services Operator 2 2

IANA Numbering Services SLA Background Drafting done by RIR legal staff, coordinating with CRISP team for reviews Public comment periods after each draft Drafting History – First draft: 1 May 2015 – Second draft: 6 August 2015 – Third draft: 30 October 2015 – Fourth draft: 25 February 2016 – Fifth draft: 18 March 2016 Final version – Today 3 3

IANA Numbering Services SLA Summary 5 year agreement, with automatic renewal Right to not renew (with 12 months notice) Right to terminate (for failure to perform) Obligations for best efforts and cooperation in transition to a successor operator Agreement to be signed in May/June timeframe Condition Precedent language so that the Agreement does not take effect until ICANN is released from its NTIA IANA 4 4
