Brussels, 13 September 2011 CIVITAS POINTER The objectives of the POINTER project may be summarised as follows: Monitoring of the results from the demonstration projects under CIVITAS Plus; Overall impact and process evaluation of the measures taken by the CIVITAS Plus cities on different levels; Development of European-level policy recommendations on the basis of validated city results;

Brussels, 13 September 2011 Experiences in CIVITAS II In previous editions of CIVITAS Safety and Security was not a category. Wide range of measures, which make it possible to draw only general conclusions. Some examples: Malmo: Cameras in buses Burgos: Creation of bicycle and pedestrian paths Odense: Interactive traffic training for children

Brussels, 13 September 2011 CIVITAS Plus 33 Safety and Security measures, that will finish in 2012 or 2013 (see civitas.eu for the list). Next speakers will show some examples. Main general goals: Reduction of accidents, injuries and fatalities Improved perception of security Other side goals (or measure specific goals): For example: less traffic (Bath) Reduction of bike theft (Brighton) Introduce road safety label at as much schools as possible (Utrecht) More cycling (Brescia)
