Mohamed was delighted to discover that by recycling his waste paper, he was helping to save the Rainforests! Every year we need a forest the size of Wales to provide all the paper we use in Britain. The amount of waste paper buried each year in the UK would fill 103, 448 double Decker buses, which if parked nose to tail would go all the way from London to Milan. One edition of a daily newspaper uses wood from 5000 trees. And every Sunday, 90% of all newspapers are thrown away, that's equal to sending 500,000 trees to landfill. To recycle your paper please use the recycle bins provided in your recycle area please contact the HSE team for more information

was thrilled to discover that by recycling his aluminium can he was saving enough energy to watch 3 hours of TV! Every year 50,000,000,000 aluminium cans are used in the UK. If all the aluminium cans in the UK were recycled there would be 12 million fewer full dustbins each year. Recycling just 1 aluminium can saves enough energy to run a computer for 3 hours To Recycle your cans please use the recycle bins provided in your local RED area please contact the Facilities team for more information

was pleased to hear that by using the recycling bins provided by XXXX he was helping to save the rainforest! If you are not sure where the recycling points are please contact the Facilities team One tonne of recycled paper saves on average 17 trees For each tonne of paper recycled we can save 1,500 litres of water For each tonne of paper recycled we can save 4,200 KWh of electricity

were over the moon when they learnt that by cycling to work they were reducing their carbon footprint! 7% of the average annual carbon footprint for a UK citizen is produced by simply getting to work and back each day. The daily commute is responsible for pumping 0.8 tons of carbon into the atmosphere per person per year, with a large proportion of this coming from car journeys. Ditching the car just one day per week would save over 140kg of carbon per year and reduce the number of cars on the road in rush-hour by up to 20% on an average day. Please contact the Facilities team for more information

was jubilant when he learnt that his regular recycling of paper was contributing to reducing the UK’s waste! Every year we need a forest the size of Wales to provide all the paper we use in Britain. The amount of waste paper buried each year in the UK would fill 103, 448 double decker buses, which if parked nose to tail would go all the way from London to Milan. To recycle your paper please use the recycle bins provided in your local RED area please contact the Facilities team for more information

As switched off his PC and monitor before going home he felt ecstatic that he was doing his bit to save the planet! If you turn off your PC at night it will save enough energy to Run a car for 100 Miles Make 800 sheets of paper Microwave a meal Please contact the Facilities team for more information

Clare was ecstatic to discover that by recycling her cardboard box The UK produces over 8 million tonnes of packaging a year - enough to fill 19,000 jumbo jets. Every tonne of cardboard recycled saves 17 trees, 7000 gallons of water, 2 cubic yards of landfill and 4,100 kw/hours of electricity. Annually we use the equivalent of 140 corrugated cardboard boxes for each person in the UK - altogether that's enough to make a pile as big as a football pitch and one and a half times as high as Nelson's Column. To Recycle your cardboard boxes please use the recycle bins provided in your local RED area please contact the Facilities team for more information she was contributing to saving the trees!
