Getting Dressed Prom is a Formal Affair LADIES: we have a few guidelines for your dress choice If you have questions about the dress, show a photo of you in the dress to Ms. Morris

The dress NO ONE THINKS THIS IS OK…

Dresses May not be CUT TOO LOW IN THE FRONT Or the back Your neckline need not plunge below your bra line The back of your dress should not fall below your natural waistline

NO side cuts/midriffs No side cuts or midriffs, not even if they are covered by sheer fabric

Length and Dress Slits No shorter than 3 inches above your knee…long dresses are always welcome!

There are plenty of options for beautiful and classy dresses

Getting Dressed GENTLEMEN: Rent/buy a tux! Make yourself presentable Just because you can get ready for school in 10 minutes doesn’t mean you should wait until 10 minutes before you leave for prom to get in the shower. Put a little effort into it! You don’t have to go this far…

Before the Dance Talk to your date about what she wants to do and then make a plan. – Get her flowers – Make dinner reservations or plan to make her dinner – Decide how you’ll get to prom – reserve a limo or get your car washed

Getting to Prom Valet No need for a limo But at least get a car wash! Must arrive By 9pm!

When you Pick her Up Get out of the car and knock on the door.

Compliment Her She’s been grooming herself all day. Tell her she looks pretty and compliment something specific – her hair, her eyes, her dress. But be polite! Don’t check her out like a piece of meat.

Greet her Parents Parents are thinking… My little girl is growing up. She looks so pretty. I remember our first father daughter dance. Who is this guy? He looks like that Beiber kid. I barely know him. How much does she like him? Should I run a background check before they leave? – Shake their hands. – Be polite and friendly. – Assure them you’ll drive safe and be home by curfew.

Dinner Might want to make reservations No need to break the bank You can even split the bill!

Pictures At Prom: will have formal photos and a photo booth Lots of groups take photos before at someone’s house or a park

Tickets Juniors and Seniors Only (sophomores may attend if they’re asked by a junior/senior) – Sorry Freshmen! $30 for single $55 for a couple Buy at lunches only – not sold at the door If you’re bringing a non-JPII date, you need to get a permission form completed

At Prom (what to expect) Theme: Jurrasic Prom (no need to dress in theme!) Jungle/dinosaur décor At WOSmith Music School (downtown Nashville) We have booked for prom: – Photo Booth – Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream – Coat Check – Valet – Security

Dancing Try out different dance moves! You’re allowed to use these Dirty Dancing moves at prom. You don’t have to dance like Danny and Sandy from Grease, but it would be cute!

So what are the rules? Dancers should stay vertical and keep their heads above each others’ waists. Pretty reasonable, right? NO ONE THINKS THIS IS OK….

Slow dancing is fun too! You can actually look at your date. Or try something new…

It’s ok to dance behind your date. But, just think. If that’s your only move, you won’t know if she’s really thinking…

After the Dance If you have decided to go to an after prom party (and gotten permission from both of your parents), have fun!

BUT Make good choices. You will be thinking – YOLO Senior Prom only happens once in a lifetime. But the choices that you make LAST A LIFETIME. Don’t do something stupid that will hurt yourself or someone else.
