We Provide Physical, Chemical and Microbiological Analysis to support food, agriculture and other consumer legislation Food Factory Inspection Scientific Support and Advice across all aspects of consumer protection legislation, environmental legislation and health and safety legislation 24/7 Emergency Support Management of Closed Landfill Sites and Highways Laboratory Services (from 01/07/2006) Support contingency planning for visiting dignitaries and conferences in Lancashire.

Food Factory Inspection Inspection of all of Lancashire’s ‘High Risk’ food manufacturing premises against food law requirements Supporting and advising local Businesses in accordance with the Authority’s proactive advisory policy. Thereby ensuring compliance with Food legislation

Analysis Supporting for example :- Consumer Protection by Trading Standards Environmental Protection monitoring of closed landfill sites. Air Quality Monitoring Radiation monitoring in Lancashire. Property Groups asbestos monitoring programmes Monitoring of hazardous chemicals in use within LCC

Inspection,Advice, Support Support of Property Groups Asbestos monitoring. Advice in relation to local Nuclear Industry Support in Emergency Situations for Emergency Services and Emergency Planning

Monitoring of Closed Landfill Sites:- To minimise environmental effects of those sites. To minimise dangers to surrounding residents. To satisfy the County Council’s Statutory Obligations.

Highways Laboratory Services:- Providing Analytical Support to HEM Providing On Site Monitoring.

Contingency Planning Support:- Behind the scenes rapid response in the event of Accident Emergency of Terrorist Attack e.g. Party Conferences Queens Visit etc.

Key Issue’s for future Official Agriculture Laboratory Accreditation Incorporation of Highways Testing Function. Continuing management of current closed landfill sites and infrastructure improvements. Acceptance of Rowley Site by the County Council (later this year) Asbestos Surveying Contracts. Adoption of National FSS electronic monitoring and database for all food and agriculture sample submissions
