Figure A Figure B

Figure A is a piece of Bencharong. It is part of the Jim Thompson Collection. This piece has rarely been on display for the public. It is housed at the Jim Thompson House/Museum in Bangkok, Thailand. Figure B is a modern vase made by Wedgewood (An English Company). It is in the “Blue Mandalay” series. It takes after Charles James Mason’s style of ceramics which was an alternative to expensive Chinese porcelain. The patterns on this vase were inspired by Asia and the pottery imported from there during the 1800s.

Figure A is a commercial piece sold by a website. It is most likely a replication of a Bencharong piece. Figure B is a piece by Wedgewood. It is called the “Pegasus Vase.” It also is porcelain. Designed by a man named John Flaxman in 1786 in England. Signature pieces from Wedgewood are called “Jasperware,” or high fired porcelain. Wedgewood is famous for their blue and white pieces, but there are Wedgewood pieces in brown/white, green/white, and black/white combinations.

Figure A is most likely a replication of Bencharong sold on a website. It is meant for decorative tableware although it can be used to drink out of (non toxic). Figure B is a Wedgewood piece from England. It is sold on an auction house website. The cup was apparently owned by a person in Massachusetts and was sold at an Estate sale.

Figure A is a piece of Royal Thai Bencharong dated from the 18 th century that is located at the Brandon Gallery for Asian Fine Art and Antiques (New York, Singapore, Hong Kong). Figure B is sold by David Reed Weatherford Antiques and Interiors. The bowl is Chinese and it costs $850. There is no date information on the piece, the only information is that the rim has been restored.

Figure A is a piece of Bencharong also sold online. It is hand painted and lined with 12 karat gold liquid. Figure B is a Chinese themed vase also sold on a website. It is only $28. It is 23 ½ inches tall and depicts a scene with three ladies.

It depicts nature including birds, blossoms, butterflies, and mountains. Figure B is a Chinese piece from the Yuan Dynasty ( ). It was sold in an auction in London, England for about 11,000 USD. It depicts a dragon in black and white and includes gray-blue under glazes.
