Kingdom: Plantae (unranked): Angiosperms (unranked): Eudicots (unranked): Rosids Order: Brassicales Family: Brassicaceae Genus: Nasturtium

Scarification Scarification- Scarification in botany involves cutting the seed coat using abrasion, thermal stress, or chemicals to encourage germination.

used a medium grain sand paper to scarify the nasturtium seeds. Gently rubbed sandpaper on seeds for a 30 second period.

Used 11 nasturtium seeds in 8 different 4 inch pots 2 control groups 2 scarified groups 2 imbibed groups 2 scarified & imbibed groups

The control group showed no growth. The scarified group grew to 16 cm. The imbibed group showed no growth. The scarified and imbibed group also grew up to 16 cm.
