Identify types of businesses that offer careers in marketing. – Almost all businesses have marketing careers; manufacturing, retail, wholesale, transportation services, community/social services, education, etc. – The great thing about marketing is it is a function that is needed in every company in every industry, so career potential is unlimited.

Describe the following marketing careers: 1. Marketing research – learn about the markets and what influences customers’ purchasing decisions 2. Advertising – reach out and attract customers 3. Product management – functions pertaining to the product component of the marketing mix 4. Distribution/Warehousing – channel management

 Describe the following marketing careers: 1. Sales – influencing the customer to purchase 2. Retailing – store management 3. Service marketing – marketing intangibles 4. Customer service – satisfying customers 5. Public relations – improving the company’s image
