GENERAL INFORMATION The oceans affect every aspect of life on Earth. The oceans affect every aspect of life on Earth. Scientists believe, and there is a lot of evidence showing, that life may have begun in the oceans. How did our oceans form? 1. Sun stripped away Earth’s 1st atmosphere 2. Volcanic gases, including water vapor, replaced the 1st atm. 3. Water vapor condensed into clouds. 4. Hot rain fell & boiled back into the clouds. 5. Eventually, the surface cooled enough for water to collect in low-lying areas. 6. Comets crashed into Earth, releasing more water.
