Conversations With Texts

 I can interact and “converse” with a text through the process of annotation.  I can note important elements of a text I may have to reference later in class discussion or in my writing.

 What do you do while you are reading? What is your reading process?  How do you know what is important?  What do you do when you struggle to understand something?  What is going on in your brain while you are reading?

 Model annotation  Read an article in small groups and practice annotating together  Later, you will choose an article to annotate independently  Goal: Prepare for the Socratic Seminar- so make sure to focus on two things as you read:  What makes us (humans) who we are?  What connections can you find to Divergent?
