Name Expansion Process: CDLIS stores 120 characters –First Name: 40 –Middle Name: 35 –Last Name: 40 –Suffix: 5 AAMVA asks State what they can Store & Transmit –Length of name –Truncation and Transliteration indicators AAMVA customizes test plan & determines what the expected results should be based on answers Truncation rules have not changed from 4.1 to 5.2 © 2011 AAMVA AAMVA – PUBLIC 9
Name Expansion: Scenario 1 State can store & transmit a 120 character name. State can also store the truncation and transliteration indicators. State adds a pointer for a driver with: – a 120 character name – A non-English alphabet character in the credentials State expected to –Not Truncate the Name and Store all 120 Characters –Store & Transmit the Truncation indicator of N –Store & Transmit Transliteration indicator of T © 2011 AAMVA AAMVA – PUBLIC 10
