1 WHO ARE WE ? VÚKV a.s. is a joint stock company based in Prague. VÚKV a.s. operates a test centre which is based in Prague, and a branch test centre which is situated in the grounds of the Railway Test Ring at Cerhenice near Prague. The company was founded in 1992 as a successor to the Research Institute of Railway Rolling Stock (Výzkumný ústav kolejových vozidel) whose origin dates back to The predecessor to this company known as the Design Office of the Ringhoffer Wagon Works had been established in The main areas of the company´s activities are focused on the development and testing of railway vehicles and vehicle parts together with other components used in the transport engineering sector. The field of development and that of testing form two standalone areas of VÚKV a.s. activities which are distinct and separate from one another. Our clients portfolio includes manufacturers of railway vehicles and other means of transport in the Czech Republic and abroad, repair shops, railway administrations, and railway operators. VÚKV a.s. works closely with its partners on a number of important projects, such as tilting train for Czech Railways (České dráhy), locomotives (e.g. Austrian private operator), metro trains (e.g. for Prague and China), and many more. VÚKV a.s. is also involved in refurbishing rail vehicles for Czech Railways and other railway operators.
