Buddy Study Spelling Program Connects knowledge of spelling to daily writing 5 day spelling program: Monday - Choose, Write, and Build Following a lesson, student and teacher create an individualized word study list (6 words a week). 3 words from Individualized spelling list 2 words from high frequency list 1 choice word (from writing, lessons, science, books etc) These words will be written in their planners to practice at home. Tuesday - Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check Students follow a step-by-step procedure to practice their word study lists. Wednesday - Buddy Check Buddies work together, dictating their words and checking each others "Buddy Check" sheets. Thursday - Make Connections Students engage in thinking about how words are related. Friday - Buddy Test Students test each other on their word study lists for the week.
