Presentation transcript:

Origin of Japanese gardens Japanese Gardens were copied off Chinese gardens. The first ones were for Emperors, dating as far back as 720AD.

Zen gardens Zen gardens were built for relaxation/meditation and are built with rocks and sand. The sand is made to look like water and the rocks are like islands in the sea.

Japanese rock garden (karesansui) Japanese rock garden. These gardens were an extension of the Japanese home, and often included: tea houses where Japanese tea ceremony takes place.

Japanese houses Traditional Japanese houses are mainly made of wood, paper and clay tiles. Rooms are separated by paper sliding doors. They do not have much furniture, so rooms have multi usage, so a living room can easily become a bedroom.
