The War that Made America  Some call it the Seven Years’ War  The Native Americans would play a vital part within this war

Ambitions of three great empires  France, Great Britain, Iroquois League  Clashed in the back country of Pennsylvania  This war that was fought largely determined the future of N. American continent

France & Indian  France had superior organization and strategy  and Together with Indian allies  They dominated the first two years of the war

Britain & Colonial Allies  Britain made major financial commitment to the war  French suffered a humiliating defeat

Treaty of Paris  France surrendered Canada  All territorial claims east of the Mississippi River to Britain  Britain got control of Florida (Spain a French ally)

Result of Success  Britain believed control over N. American continent was firmly established  Felt they won right to territories west of the Appalachians  Colonists objected to this control of N. American holdings by British
