Long Vowels and Vowel Digraphs

 Long vowel sounds are spelled many different ways.  The letters ee, ea, and oa can be easily confused if letter strokes are not clearly formed.  Discuss the meanings of the spelling words.

Baseball Game  Draw 2 baseball diamonds for each team.  Create 2 teams.  Give a spelling word to team 1.  If spelled correctly, go to base.  If misspelled, other team gets a chance to spell it.  If spelled correctly, go to base.  This team also gets to go first in the next inning.  Continue until all words have been used.

Rhyming words  Using rhyming words can help you check the spelling of words.  What are words that rhyme with… chief aim fluke rose
