Two areas to review IE Assessment & Mapping recommendation New, but related developments in curriculum

Curriculum - Background Psychology requested Abnormal Psychology be included as option to fulfill Multicultural graduation requirement for local AA. This would change definition of Multiculturalism. Curriculum Committee requested input from International and Multicultural Committee. – Returned with revised definition and process for adding courses to Multicultural requirement – Changes not accepted by Curriculum

Curriculum Committee (also GE committee) to look at local AA – Graduation Requirement courses – Alignment with other local CC – Discussion about how to proceed Since OCC has GE SLOs, it was suggested that AA GE requirements align with the GE SLOs. – Do we need to look at the GE SLOs to assure they reflect ISLOs? – ISLOs for GE SLOs? Curriculum - Background

General Education Outcomes Area A: English Language, Communication, and Analytical Thinking Students will be able to read, write, listen, and speak competently while demonstrating critical/analytical thinking skills. Area B: Physical and Biological Sciences; Scientific Inquiry; Life Science; Quantitative Reasoning; and Mathematics Sciences: Students will apply critical thinking skills concerning the causes and effects of natural phenomena and will become familiar with the rational approach that researchers use to analyze data and formulate logical conclusions. Mathematics and Quantitative Reasoning: Students will develop and demonstrate mathematical problem solving skills by using critical thinking and logical reasoning.

General Education Outcomes Area C: Arts and Humanities Students will develop skill sets associated with the arts and humanities by analyzing aesthetic qualities, evaluating and developing rational arguments, identifying cultural and historical influences, and engaging in artistic expression. Area D: Social and Behavioral Sciences Students will use the theoretical and methodological principles of the social and behavioral sciences to explain and evaluate institutions, groups, and individuals across social, economic, and global contexts of historical periods. Area E: Life Skills, Life-Long Learning, and Self-Development Students will develop and demonstrate the life skills of interpersonal relationships, self understanding and management, and decision making for professional success and personal well-being.
