GMC Recognition and Approval of Trainers (2012) Medical educators (that meet specific criteria) need to demonstrate that they meet the standards laid out by the GMC. This will need to be evidenced at appraisal under current plans. Qualifying medical educators include: Named educational supervisors in postgraduate training Named clinical supervisors in postgraduate training Lead coordinators of undergraduate training at each local education provider Doctors responsible for overseeing students’ educational progress for each medical school. How LIME CPD can direct your learning All CPD courses, workshops and conferences run through LIME (including Clinicians Day, Student Support Conference, Annual Skills etc.) are mapped to the GMC standards. Attendance at any course shall be recorded along with the criteria earned. This mapping exercise is not designed to guarantee that medical educators attending LIME events will become accredited trainers, rather that attendance at LIME events can be used by those attending in their appraisal as part of a portfolio of evidence. All CPD courses, workshops and conferences run through LIME are also mapped to the Academy of Medical Educators Framework.
