SYNOPSIS AND BACKGROUND Women in Politics Project  Strengthening Women’s Capacities in Local Government ◦ 15 districts in Zambia ◦ 39 female Councillors / over 1000 women Motivation  Poor representation of women  Unequal access and Control of services  Socio-Cultural Stereotypes  Politics are for Men only Women Drawing Water in Lusaka

RESULTS  Enhanced Service delivery “Identification of community needs was a problem for me as a civic leader in my ward, but through the trainings conducted by ZNWL, I have the know how on conducting needs assessment within my ward using a variety of strategies”.
