Background NHS Erewash CCG are the lead Commissioner for the Derbyshire Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS). A mutual agreement between the current provider and Commissioners has resulted in a reduction of the 5 year NEPTS contract to 3 years 3 months This has provided the opportunity to engage with partners and patients on a review of the current service specification and develop ways to improve patient care and service delivery

Background (Cont…) The new service must provide: – a flexible and responsive service to meet the changing structure of the NHS –support locally agreed initiatives and work collaboratively with partners –enable an improvement in service delivery – using lessons learnt over the past 18 months. The new contract will commence 1 st October 2015 (awarded 1 st April 2015)

THE CHANGING LANDSCAPE OF THE NHS – Key changes Keogh - seven day services across the NHS; complete review of urgent and emergency care within the NHS £3.8 billion Better Care Fund Five-year “Unit of Planning” strategy for the local health economy – North and South Transformational programmes - will affect every sector of the NHS, including NEPTS which will have to adapt, engage and develop ways to support these new changes on how future patient care will be delivered
