Collecting Data from a Survey Survey: is a way to gather information called data. Survey results are show by a line plot or frequency table.

Types of Graphs Double Bar Graph: A Bar graph compares data. A double bar graph compares 2 sets of similar data. Line Graph: uses data points connected with line segments to represent data COLLECTED OVER TIME. Circle Graph: shows data and how parts of data relate to the TOTAL. Stem and Leaf Plots: a way to organize many numbers by place value.

Double Bar Graph Scale: a series of numbers at equal distances along an axis Interval: the distance between adjoining numbers on the axis Write a key for the two bars.

Line graph A line graph is often used to show a TREND or direction in the data. To determine a TREND : − If the line is rising from left to right, the data numbers are increasing. − If the line is falling from left to right, the data numbers are decreasing.

Circle graph A circle graph represents all (100%) of a set of data. The sections, or wedges, show what part of the whole each portion of the data represents.

Stem and leaf plots A way to organize numbers by place value 1.Order numbers from least to greatest 2.The tens digit represents the stem 3.The ones digit represents the leaf Data (14, 20, 29, 30, 34, 45, 48, and 52) (Tens )Stem l Leaf (Ones)
