Rephrasings where you have to ask a question are eas to identify; the part of the answer you have to ask about is underlined and there is a question mark at the end of the rephrasing I have worked here for ten years _____________________________________ ? How long have you worked here

Please, remember the verbs and tenses that need auxiliaries and don’t think only of the wh- word. Remember that you will have the auxiliary verb as if it were a Yes/No question. She often eats vegetables for dinner Does she often eat vegetables for dinner? What does she often eat for dinner?

With verbs that don’t need an auxiliary (modals, present perfect and future forms, etc), make sure you use the correct order of the sentence: She will have finished painting by ten o’clock What time will she have finished painting?

With who and what, remember that you use an auxiliary when you are asking about the subject and you don’t use it when you are asking about the complement: Who helped you? Who did you help? What happened? What did you buy? Don’t forget that the prepositions go at the end of a question: What are you talking about?
