Value Prop vs Business Model Canvas

Business Model Canvas

Revenue Streams Think about your business makes money How could I make money from a book I wrote? Traditional publisher prints books & markets, pays us small % royalty on sales Self publish, pay printer, self-market & keep 100% Publish online as eBook, keep 100% Give book away, use advertising Give book away, ask for donations from key readers Give book away to promote live events, ie. seminars Give away chapter 1, sell rest as upgrade Break book up – ie. sell as stories, textbook chapters Sell for one-off fee to online service/database etc Sell consulting services, book as advert Be University employee – salary in exchange for research

Examples There are plenty of examples on the net you can check out Mostly tend to be very headline Remember its meant to change as you develop your idea Each assumption needs to be investigated with more data, or be the source of future research Potential funding could be to verify some of your assumptions, ie through market research, surveys or user events Or around the acquisition of resources or the skills to undertake key activities

Dog walking service

Check your assumptions Once you have an understanding of how your business model shapes up, you can check your assumptions again and possibly ‘pivot’ Is this the best way to produce revenue from the customers? Is the cost structure realistic? Can it be changed? Are there different channels to market? Do you lack key resources, or could you obtain them in some other way, or substitute them? Are there partners you need? This is an iterative process

Thanks for attending Next session includes financial planning
